Nintendo now banning Switch users putting “inappropriate” material in online games

Earlier this month it came to light that certain Switch hackers users were using hacks to put their own custom images into their Switch profile picture – including ones with pornography.

While this normally wouldn’t be a problem for the most part. It led to other users being able to see these images in Super Mario Odyssey’s Balloon World mode.

Nintendo has now issued a statement on the matter and has said they’ve banned these users.

“A very small number of consumers have been using modified Nintendo Switch systems to display inappropriate or unauthorized material in certain online games. Nintendo always strives to provide a positive experience for all consumers and this includes continuously monitoring all threats to its products’ security and taking swift and strong action to prevent them. Modified Nintendo Switch systems have been banned.”
