Nintendo not keen on Virtual Reality just yet
You’ve probably seen headlines, Nintendo working on VR, Nintendo researching VR – and none of these are really entirely true.
Speaking at the companies annual general meeting earlier this week, president and CEO Tatsumi Kimishima confirmed to investors that company has investigated VR technology but is focusing on other things right now – namely the NX.
Shigeru Miyamoto also spoke about VR, expressing concern about just how long you can play VR games for and if parents would go for their kids playing with VR in the living room. Not only that Miyamoto believes that it’s hard to make something commercially viable if its hard for people to understand the technology. Something they do have experience with (3DS screen, Wii Remote).
Oh and if you’re thinking that Nintendo isn’t going for VR simply because they’ve had a burn with the Virtual Boy. They’re now saying that the Virtual Boy was never VR, but instead just a “game device with a stereoscopic view”.
Nintendo also says that the NX isn’t VR either.
