Nintendo launches Super Mario 3D Land Welcome Promotion
Nintendo has announced the Super Mario 3D Land Welcome Promotion, it’ll allow 3DS and 3DS XL owners both new and old, under certain conditions to nab a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land when you buy another game on Nintendo’s list.
To get the free game you’ll need to register your Nintendo 3DS or Nintendo 3DS XL and one of the below 15 games with Club Nintendo between 28th November 2013 (2:01am AEDT) and 14th January 2014 (9:59am AEDT) to request the free download code for Super Mario 3D Land. You’ll have until February 14th to request the code. If you’ve registered your 3DS or 3DS XL before this, sadly you can stop reading here.
Once you get the code you can redeem it on any Nintendo 3DS, Nintendo 3DS XL or Nintendo 2DS before March 14th 2014.
There’s a huge list of good games on the required games list – take a look;
- Mario & Luigi: Dream Team Bros.
- Animal Crossing: New Leaf
- The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds
- Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D
- Fire Emblem: Awakening
- Luigi’s Mansion 2
- LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins
- Sonic Lost World (Nintendo 3DS version)
- Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Nintendo 3DS version)
- Pokémon X
- Pokémon Y
- Bravely Default (including Bravely Default: Deluxe Collector’s Edition)
- New Super Mario Bros. 2
- Mario Kart 7
- Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy
But maybe you’ve had a 3DS, 3DS XL or any of the above games sitting around for a while and you haven’t registered them on Club Nintendo you too are eligible for the promotion. Just don’t register your console, nor any of the above games on Club Nintendo until November 28th (2:01am AEDT). This means that people picking up The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds Limited Edition Nintendo 3DS XL console can automatically qualify for the promotion.
Just remember those dates above if you have the required hardware and software and a free copy of Super Mario 3D Land could be yours.
Full information on Nintendo’s site.
I know that this promotion is really just intended for new 3DS customers and for people to go out and buy a new 3DS for a free game, however it’s upsetting to me personally that it’s a game I already have.
I recently bought the new Pokemon 3DS XL and have not yet registered it yet, I just wish there were a few more options for free games like with their earlier new customer promotion.
I guess my only options are to gift the download code to someone or use it for myself and sell the hardcopy I have? /sigh
How do you register a 3DS? I’m sure I linked my club nintendo account with the 3DS I just got but it dosnt show up when I log on to the site.
Linking accounts and registering a console are two different things.
You’ll need the unique code which you got in the box with your 3DS, it should be on a card labeled with Club Nintendo stuff, you’ll know it when you see it. You then log on to the club nintendo website, click the link to register a new code and fill out a survey to get some stars and your free game after the 28th. This is what you do to register a new game, and the same therefore goes for a console. Maybe in the future games and consoles will register themselves, but nintendo quite likes long codes, and those surveys too I’d imagine!
just checked if I registered my Pokemon 3DS XL… NOPE!!! =)
Getting bravely default day 1 so free SM3DL for me
Getting my Zelda 3DSXL on the weekend so this is awesome news thanks Vooks!
Does anyone know if you can register a second 3DS onto a Club Nintendo account and still qualify for this? Or is it only for the first 3DS system on an account?
Cheers, I dont remember getting a card with my 3DS but I have big stack of them and I might have just chucked it there.
will it matter if I already have a 3DS registered to my account and I want to register my 3DS XL for the promotion??
Only unregistered consoles? What utter bullcrap.
I literally bought and registered a new 3ds only a few days ago, before there was any news of this promo. So thanks Nintendo, you douchebags.
Calling Nintendo douchebags for announcing a promotion before it starts makes no sense.
so happy I noticed this before I registered my new Zelda console 🙂
I’m curious whether I’ll get stars for eshop purchased games, but I can worry about that later… too busy having fun with zelda now!
