The general public will get its first hands on with the 3DS early next year

The press (even our Josh) and industry people have had their hands all over the 3DS now since this years E3. Now, its time for the average joe public to get their hands on, well if you live in Japan that is.

The event is to be held over a three day weekend on January 8th, 9th and 10th in 2011. Its being held at the same venue as the Toyko Game Show and last months Nintendo conference, so you know its going to be big.

The announcement came from Iwata himself in a video recorded especially for the event. The reason for the event, and the biggest challenge for Nintendo with the 3DS is that you have to see the 3D effect in action, screens and video wont do it.

Expect events like this all around the world as the launch of the system gets closer, and yes probably even here in Australia.
