Nintendo Japan forced into 3DS announcement
It was a pretty risky to step on the toes of the DSi XLs western release, but it seems Nintendo was forced to announce the 3DS
When the announcement of the 3DS came last week, in the same month the rest of the Nintendo world is trying to sell the DSi XL. The world had to ask, why would Nintendo Japan do that to its subsidiaries? Well, turns out if Nintendo didn’t announce it, the Japanese press would have, according to reports.
“Apparently, the Japanese press was all over it and talked with suppliers there and Nintendo just wanted to get out ahead by breaking the news to prevent a leak,” says Billy Pigeon from M2 Research speaking to CNBC.
While it would have played a part in the launches of the DSi XL in America, Europe and Australia, the DSi XL (or LL) has been out for months now in Japan; as we know, Nintendo treat Japan like the golden child. Nintendo America has refused to comment on the 3DS announcement or its impact on the DSi XL.
The Nintendo DSi XL launches in Australia next week.
