Nintendo hints at new Metroid side story

Now dont get too excited but Nintendo has revealed on the official Japanese Metroid website that another side story from the Metroid series is coming soon. Next to the text there is a picture of a space pirate. So what could this mean? Is it a new game on the way? Perhaps something else, like an anime or manga?
