Been wondering why Brawl has been delayed for so long in PAL regions (if you havent imported already that is)? Well Nintendo of Europes Laurent Fischer has the low down on why Europe (and consequently Australia) has had to wait for so long. Ficher explains, “”Every time you go through localization you then have to put it through a test, which involves making sure that you recorded the proper voice, and that the proper voice is being activated with the proper trigger, at the proper time so its not just a case of swapping over some words, it requires some proper extra development processes. And so it takes time.”” More inside It would seem Nintendos billion dollar income this year wasnt spent on translation improvement, but wait, theres more. Fischer adds, “”I realize that from time to time we have still been disappointing some people, but in general we have also been able to bring to them games which would have never been available before in a European market, and the time frame is slowly decreasing, so Im positive for the future. We know that we are still not reaching the expectations of all the people, but were really doing our best to resolve this.””

So Mario Kart, which contains a similar amount of text and voices, gets released before Japan in Europe how? There is no kidding that Brawl is a big game and translation would take a while but its nowhere near as text-heavy and audio heavy as games like Metal Gear Solid 4 which is scheduled for a worldwide release and Grand Theft Auto 4 which recently launched worldwide without any problems.

So how about instead of another new DS colour this year Nintendo can we please get some money put into the translation department? If the others can do it, so can you.
