The Black Friday shopping week saw a surge in sales for Nintendo as consumers sought the best value in entertainment. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime gives us an idea of how fast Nintendo systems flew off shelves during the week.
“US shoppers bought about 9,000 Nintendo hardware systems non-stop for every hour of every day during the week of Black Friday,” he explains. “For the past several years, consumers have decided that Nintendo defined both top value and all-inclusive entertainment, and that sentiment continues again at the start of this shopping season.”
The sales spike has been charged by the release of several new value-added hardware bundles, such as the limited edition Mario 25th Anniversary red Wii pack, and orange and green Nintendo DSi systems bundled with Mario Party DS (the latter only available in America).
If only every week was Black Friday week.
