The Nintendo DS might be closing in on its last days, but not for a while, says Nintendo. Speaking at an investor meeting, Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has come out and said that even after the 3DS launch, Nintendo will continue to bring big games to the DS.
Not only that, but Nintendo will continue to fight the piracy that has become rampant on the system.
"Already in the next year, we will launch Nintendo 3DS, but for the existing Nintendo DS family of devices, while we’ll intensify the legal and technical countermeasures against the likes of [piracy devices] MagiCom, we’d like to change the situation by creating hit titles by leveraging, upon the already existing huge installed base of the hardware."
Nintendo said a similar sort of thing to this when the Nintendo DS came out, and followed through on its promise to support the Game Boy Advance. For a while.
Do you think Nintendo is going to keep up Nintendo DS support, or will and should the 3DS be their main focus in the handheld space?
