The American NPD charts for March are finally out with resurgence of the Wii coming along with it. For the month of March in the US, there were 557,500 Wii consoles sold with the DS besting that with 700,000. Nintendos systems accounted for 59% of all the video game hardware sold in March.
Software, too, was great with the Pokémon games (when combined) topping the charts with 1.02 million copies ofSoulSilver and 761,000 copies of HeartGold being sold. God of War III was the top game of the month.
"Demand for Nintendo fun continues unabated," says Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of Americas executive vice president of Sales & Marketing. "Were glad so many people are able to get their hands on our systems as we prepare for the May launches of Super Mario Galaxy™ 2 for Wii and Picross 3D™ for our Nintendo DS systems."
