Nintendo DS and Pokemon Online all but confirmed

It’s almost official! According to UK Magazine Computer and Video Games a Nintendo spokesperson has confirmed that the Nintendo DS will support online capabilities. Nintendo has not released exact details as to what will be supported, but several Japanese developers have multiplayer titles in development for up to 16 users. CVG speculates Nintendo will make an official announcement along with more info on January 27 at the European DS unveiling.

Also Craig from the DS channel at IGN mentioned ‘rumblings at Nintendo that indicate that the company will finally unwrap its DS online plans very very soon.’

Nintendo is developing a hub-style system not dissimilar to Xbox Live, this system can be adopted by different developers and housed within their games. What’s even more exciting is his comment: “”the first game out of Nintendo to use this service will be one of those massively killer Nintendo brands that people have been wanting to play online for years””. No doubt the word; Pokemon sprung into your mind at some point, don’t worry, youre normal – we’re all waiting for that particular franchise to go online.
