Nintendo Download Update: Trine 2 too

It’s been a little bit barren on the eShop front but we’re finally starting to see some titles start trickling in. Amongst them today, is one of the most talked about eShop title (at least for us Australians). Trine 2: Director’s Cut is finally here and is being offered at a discount rate of $14.95AU, which works out to be a 25% saving. For those with quota restrictions, the download weighs in at roughly 2GB.

UPDATE: We have confirmed with Joel at FrozenByte that the special price will be available until February 28th. No word on what time the price will go back up, however.

As expected, our release also comes complete with the latest update / patch – which adds support for the Pro Controller, voice chat when playing online multiplayer, improved graphics rendering and lighting, some minor bug fixes and even German vocals, apparently.

Zen Pinball 2 is a little bit different – it is free to download the game from the eShop and, as the name suggests, is a pinball game. Once the main “app” is downloaded, players can purchase new tables as they wish. There are roughly 35 tables total available (at least that’s what we counted), at a price of $14.45AU for a pack of four or $4.35AU individually. This one is great for Marvel or X-Men fans, as a lot of the tables are based on these properties.

Thankfully, all of the tables are also able to be downloaded as a free demo, so you can try before you buy. Note that each trial needs to be downloaded before it can be purchased for full use – single tables are roughly 70MB in size while the packs are roughly 300MB. For those wondering, multiplayer is also included (albeit not online).

Additionally, Batman: Arkham City  Armoured Edition has been uploaded to the eShop for digital purchase, and a 1GB demo of NBA 2K13 is also available for download if you want to try that.

Unfortunately, the 3DS eShop gets paid dust this morning with only one video being uploaded – The Beet Party: Beet Scratch. Yeah we’re not sure either.

So there you have it! It’s nice to see Zen Pinball is already at parity with the console releases elsewhere, and very nice to finally see Trine 2 hit our store.

Lots of large sizes again. Won’t be able to download everything I want. How long does the Trine 2 special price last for? I’m GamePad-less for a couple weeks and so I’m eShop-less too. Don’t want to miss out on it.

Matthew, I have reached out to FrozenByte for a comment on how long the discount will last. We will post an addendum both here and on the site Facebook when we receive confirmation! Hopefully you’ll still be able to get the discounted price!

Hi guys, Joel from Frozenbyte here. The discount will last until February 28 (not sure on the exact time though).

Hope you enjoy the game (and sorry again for the long delay)!

Thanks for that! I would expect to have my GamePad back by then so it should all be good. 🙂 Always nice to see developers interact with their fans.

I suppose I’ll probably have to repurchase any Zen Pinball tables I already own on Android, won’t I?

I suppose that would be the case, Archaic 🙁 The only cross-buy system is the Vita and the PS3. I assume the infrastructure just wouldn’t be able to properly support it at this time :/

(I personally think they’d be better on Wii U anyway, but you could always download a few trial tables to give it a go before you buy!)

It’s been a long time coming but I’m just so happy to now have the game. Won’t be able to play it until Sunday though but I understand the reason for the delay. Hopefully too many wont be turned off the game after the delay.

I have been waiting for Trine 2 since launch yet I ended up getting Zen Pinball 2 this week. The long wait tempered my excitement and I hope I will pick it up soon. At the moment though I’m busy playing Pinball.
