Nintendo Download Updates (3/7) Let’s go, Super Turbo Art Academy!
Not a bad start to July, with this weeks update! It might be a quiet time of year for game releases in general, but there’s a lot of cool stuff here on Nintendo consoles, at least. Let’s get started!
The big Wii U release this week is Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition, which quietly launched earlier this week. If you haven’t already picked this one up on another platform, do it now! On top of the Metroidvania style platforming, there’s plenty of sly references to older games, including our favourite plumber brothers (hint: Mario and green Mario). Give it a whirl!
The 3DS has also got a few cool games this week, with Chibi-Robo! Let’s Go, Photo! and Pokémon Art Academy smashing their way onto the eShop. Draw Pokémon kinda poorly like me? Let’s improve to ‘oh, I suppose it is a Squirtle, if you squint a bit’ after a bit of practice! And Chibi-Robo will give you an excuse to use those two dots on the outside of your 3DS. That’s right, they’re cameras!
So what are we all grabbing this week? Let us know in haiku in the comments below!

Damn it! Still no Shovel Knight?
Grabbed Guacamelee this morning. Really loving it. The combat with dashes, grabs and combos is really fun. The platforming can get very challenging at times too.
Don’t forget about the free Mutant Mudds update on 3DS. It adds 20 new “ghost” levels, featuring new monsters and four hidden characters (which I assume are modelled after the team at Renegade Kid). I completed all the extra content just a minute shy of 2 hours (of continuous play).
anyone know when/if armillo is coming to aus?
Or Scram Kitty. I wonder if we’ll have to wait for Gunvolt and Mighty No. 9?
Just as a follow up, Scram Kitty developer just tweeted, “Hi there! We don’t have anything to announce regarding other regions just yet. As soon as we do, it’ll be posted here!”

Oh, and as for Shovel Knight:
“More than a few weeks, less than a few months.”
Sounds like it’s still being classified 🙁

What’s the deal with Nintendo eshop releases being so scarse in Australia? Is it a classification issue?
