We're revamping our updates and there's a big sale to celebrate. Coincidence we sear.
Welcome to the new look weekly Nintendo Download Updates, we figured since these updates are getting bigger and bigger we need to organise it a bit better and get the information to you as soon as possible. While we have you we’ll explain how we get the update information and why it usually takes until its out for us to post it.
Each week get sent what the games are being released from Nintendo Europe. This means that its all in Euros and Pounds and it also means games they announce we might not get here in Australia. The primary reason for this is the cost of classification and then sometimes things don’t come here just because. That’s a good thing though sometimes, we miss out on a lot of crap often.
So to find out the price (unless the developer tells us via social media) we usually do a ‘guess’ conversion as there is only a few price points for games or we have to wait until the update is released in Australia, typically on Thursday night.
That’s the other thing the time we get these updates changes depending on the daylight savings of both Australia and in Europe. Right now the updates should be released on Thursday/Friday midnight in the Eastern States, other states work backwards from there naturally. This again changes when daylight savings changes and we’ll do our best to keep you updated each week at the bottom of the updates for when you can expect things.
Then of course there is always wildcard games that come out before the update goes live or in the case of retail games sometimes the day after or at midnight Thursday/Friday. We’ll do our best to let you know when that happens.
So then how about those updates? This week sees a huge sale thanks to the iDÉAME developer’s conference which is taking placing in Spain this weekend. A ton of Wii U and 3DS original eShop titles are on sale because of this and the winner is you. If you’ve been holding out for some games for a while, then it might be time to swoop.
The other big game that should have been here this week too is Bit. Trip Runner 2, the developers say however because of a classification issue the game will miss the release here in Australia this week. You can still have a UK account to purchase this if you wish.
Lastly there is the addition of the The Croods: Prehistoric Party for both systems, however we don’t actually know if they will be released. We’ve asked Namco Bandai if they will but are yet to hear a response.
Thanks for sticking with us this week as we explain some things, the more you guys know the better.
So then, what do you think of our new look and the updates of course.
All Prices are in AUD and accurate at time of writing. The Australian eShop updates at Midnight every Thursday at 11pm Eastern Daylight Saving Time unless otherwise specified.
