Sonic the Hedgehog is back, and in good form. Who would have thunk it?

Sega might have just done the Sonic franchise justice for once, yes Sonic the Hedgehog Episode 1 is out this week and by all accounts from our iOS, Xbox and PSN friends who already have the game its quite good. Sonic joins two other games this week, seems Sonic was a bit too fast though we lost 3 games from the European update. At least we got the best ones.

WiiWare

Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 (Sega, 1500 Points) – Has the Sonic cycle finally been broken? The fans have been asking for it for years, clamouring even and now Sega has done it. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a pure Sonic game like the good old days. There is a few of the new things like the homing attack in there but weve lost the crappy cutscenes, Sonics rubbish mates and all the other fluff holding the Sonic games back all these years.

This, of course, is Episode 1 so like all episodic games its a little on the short side but there is plenty to keep you coming back. The WiiWare version holds up very well against the HD console versions as well.

At 1500 Points or $22.50 (or more depending on where you buy your points) its mighty expensive, but for a Sonic game that nearly gets it right – perhaps it is worth it.

Miffys World (Biodroid, 1000pts) – Miffy hits WiiWare with a cute and cuddly educational game for the younger ones. The game allows kids to play by themselves or a parent can help with a second Wii Remote.

DSiWare

Academy: Tic-Tac-Toe Naughts & Crosses (Gamelion, 200 Points) – Doing what it says on the cover, this is the classic Tic-Tac-Toe game you all played in Maths while that teacher was talking about stuff you never ended up using in real life. Addition? Subtraction? How do they work?
