Nintendo Download Update: Cubes, Monkeys and a lack of Sexy

Sadly, Australia misses out on Sexy Poker due to it being refused classification by the OFLC. Awwww..UPDATE: It arrived afterall! More inside

Today on the WiiWare front of the weekly update to Nintendo’s downloadable platforms, we have two games. You, Me & the Cubes is the first game by Kenji Eno (famous for his horror title "D") in almost ten years. The game sees you throw little people, called Fallos, onto cubes with the Wii Remote. This might sound easy, but as you progress through the game, the number of cubes (and their types) increases drastically, and it becomes tricky to have enough Fallos on each without them falling. At 1000 Nintendo Points, the game is definitely worth checking out.

Also on WiiWare is Tales of Monkey Island Chapter 2: The Siege of Spinner Cay. We reviewed this earlier, giving it 8.5 out of ten stars, so you should check that out if you’re interested in the game. The latest chapter will set you back 1000 points.

Sexy Poker also arrived on the UK Wii Shop, but didn’t make it to ours. This strip poker game was Refused Classification by the OFLC (Office of Film and Literature Classification), so it didn’t make it here. Don’t worry, you’re not missing out on much, though, since it only has an average of 42/100 on Metacritic.

UPDATE: Sexy Poker managed to make its way here, afterall! While it wasnt in the official release list, it made arrived later in the day with an M rating. We dont know yet whether this is an edited version for us, though, but it can only be so long until someone downloads it and checks.

Unfortunately, we only get one game on the Virtual Console today, and it is virtually one we already have! It seems that one of the only differences between R-Type on the Master System (which we just received) and R-Type on the TurboGrafx-16 is price, with the former being 500 points and the latter 800 points. If you don’t already have the TG-16 game, it is probably worth looking into, though.

Again, we only have one DSiWare title this week, but at least it resembles a game. Yummy Yummy Cooking Jam appears to be a port of the WiiWare game of the same name, but at 500 points (half the cost of the WiiWare title). As the chef of a restaurant, you need to prepare food for your customers before they get impatient and leave. Your goal in the game is to become the best chef in the city by performing well enough in its four restaurants (The Hot Dog, Hamburger, Pizza, and Mexican Restaurant).

While two other games, Uno and Worms Battle Islands, were set for a September release earlier by Nintendo of Europe, it appears those have been pushed back, with Uno at least now marked for October.
