A look into the future this week. Not heading to the E3 next week? Theres a good chance youre not, but you could have a sample of the technology that will be in the 3DS this week on your DSi.
Tales in a Box: Hidden Shapes in Perspective! (Nintendo, 500 Points) – Also known as Looksleys Line Up, and whatever other 5 names Nintendo has given it worldwide, it uses the DSis front camera to track your heads position and shift the games perspective based on that. Youll need to tilt your DS and line up objects in a 3D space.
Like WarioWare Snapped, its not perfect in its use of the camera, but the game itself is great if you can get it working for you. It shouldnt be too hard really, but just make sure you have consistent lighting wherever you play it.
Second up is Fieldrunners, a port of the popular and great iPhone game. The game keeps the translation mostly intact but it is missing the online features. Its great tower-defence gameplay works well on the smaller screen too. Price is comparable to the iPhone version – Fieldrunners is a field of fun.
Lastly on the DSiWare, there is Advanced Circuits, a simple and fun puzzler that requires to you put a track or road back together to get a car or train to the end of the road. Greatly priced at 200 Points.
While there isnt any WiiWare, there is a sole Virtual Console game on the store this week. And thats Final Fantasy II. Its actually Final Fantasy IV but its been renamed because we never originally got it.
Remember, the cost to bring these games out on the WiiWare and DSiWare stores is a risk for some of the smaller developers. If something sounds good and catches your eye, why not try it out?
