It's better than nothing, we guess.
PlatinumGames and Nintendo caused a bit of a stir when they announced the sequel to (arguably) one of the best action titles ever crafted to be exclusive to the Wii U.
Despite the lack of information we have about the game itself, namely who will star and when it’s set, we still haven’t even received a proper trailer for the game. Despite this, tonight’s NIntendo Direct did not change anything however we were given some insight into the developers office and see some incredibly rough aspects of the game, including what looked like a witch battling with whips on her feet. Yes, it gets that ridiculous.
The team say that they want to incorporate many new environments into the game while ensuring they still fit within the Bayonetta world as they feel they’ve already told the story of Bayonetta and what she is about. Whether this means they’ll skip some exposition or be focusing on an entirely new character (as fans have speculated) is yet to be seen.
Additionally, the team promised that a lot of the battles in Bayonetta 2 will feel like “boss battles” in terms of intensity and scale. Given the quality of Bayonetta’s boss battles (both small and large), this is definitely something to get excited about.
Despite not having a date, any information, any gameplay footage or information about how Bayonetta 2 takes advantage of the Wii U, PlatinumGames and Nintendo both asked us to please wait a little bit longer.
Hopefully we’ll see it this year, though.
