Hot on the heels of strong evidence that the Wii will get its first price cut in North America comes denial of a discount for Europe.

Instead of issuing the usual blanket ‘no comment’ on the matter, a NOE representative has declared that "We currently have no plans to cut the price of Wii. Current talk of price cuts is rumour and speculation. This is rumour and speculation as Nintendo have made no announcements on price. Furthermore this is most likely retailer led much in the same way retailers in the UK offer price promotions on our products."

So whilst there may be no official drop in the RRP from Nintendo, the industry have taken it upon themselves to offer the console and bundles at a discounted price. The Wii has remained at its original retail price in every territory since launching in 2006, and speculation has been rife recently that a price cut is inevitable in order to stave off languishing hardware sales.
