Nintendo comments on Wii U specs, says ‘experience of playing’ more important
In the past two weeks there has been many a rumour about the technical specs of the Wii U. We’ve had it more powerful, less power, just as powerful as the current HD consoles and more. Even with the system in developers hands we can’t get a straight answer or at least a consistent answer out of anyone. Now in an effort to perhaps put some things to rest Nintendo of America has commented on the technical specs of the console, but it’s not the answer many are looking for.
We do not focus on technology specs. We understand that people like to dissect graphics and processing power, but the experience of playing will always be more important than raw numbers.
Sound familiar? This is essentially the same line that Nintendo used when people asked about the tech specs of the Wii. So what can you gather from this? Just about as much as all the other rumours and news, not much. You’ll have to wait until possibly the E3 to find out if the graphical prowess of the Wii U is up to your standard.
I’m getting tired of the comments about Wii U not having enough power etc and therefore that means it will fail. I think the system should have enough power to support HD graphics and the special controller. Its up to the developers to create great games on it, and not be so fricken lazy
It will always come down to games. If the games are fun, the console will be a success. Nintendo is the best at utilizing the capabilities of its system. We will experience some new, fun things.
It’d be nice to have awesome graphics but I don’t really care… just take my money already Nintendo!!!
System won’t fail if it doesn;t push hard enough. If anything, the system will fail if it pushes too hard. Seriously, watch Soy come out with a much more conservative console next gen.
I am going to be hugely dissapointed if it doesn’t match up graphically to the current HD consoles. I was never expecting a huge leap, but I don’t want another Wii situation, scaled back 3rd party games or games not released at all. In a perfect world all 3rd parties would create new and unique games for the Wii U, just like they could have done that on the Wii but they aren’t like that. 3rd Party devs and publishers want parity with all systems and to whore out every so called AAA game on every system with ease to maximize profits.
I’m hoping that unique gameplay experiences will prevail. I really do. But I’m not so sure they will. Im also hoping that the WiiU’s eShop counterpart will provide a lot of that innovation. E3 can’t come soon enough!
