Nintendo clarifies strategy for lead up to E3 2013
In a statement from Nintendo of America, Nintendo has further outlined it’s plans for getting information out to consumers without the traditional large E3 conference. Nintendo plans to fully inform fans through use of more Nintendo Directs in the lead up to E3, as well as hosting two smaller events at the expo.
One of these will be focused towards the games media, similar to the larger conferences of old, and a second presentation will be made specifically for business partners like publishers and retailers where Nintendo will discuss it’s plans where business is concerned.
The media event will occur just prior to E3 opening and allow a small group of media to play a selection of ‘strong’ games.
Nintendo have also said they are still considering other ways of bringing news directly to players during the time of E3, however they will have more to say on this at a later date.
I am totally behind this move. Big expo’s have basically stuck around for the sake of traditional rather than the necessity of it all.
In this online age all the information we can ever want can be delivered in a nice clean and focused manner and I hope Nintendo do this. They had a really good test run of it last year with the pre-E3 Wii U functionality reveal so I’m hoping for more of the same in terms of quality.
