Since we did it for the 3DS, it seems only fitting to do it for the Wii U as well. Nintendo have gone ahead and confirmed and given some release windows to the games releasing for the Wii U for the rest of the year.
As we previously expected, Game & Wario is coming to both America and Europe in June. The Australian release date for the micro game compilation is June 29th, 2013. Pikmin and New Super Luigi U (the disc based version) follow in July for Europe with Australia receiving both on the 27th of July. America, on the other hand, gets Pikmin on the 4th of August and the New Super Luigi U disc on the 25th of August. As previously announced in another Nintendo Direct, The Wonderful 101 will be hitting store shelves on the 23rd of August in Europe and the 24th of August in Australia. That’s where the familiar stuff ends.
Newly confirmed dates (or at least, dates for newly announced games) are as follows.
The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker HD will be releasing in October in both America and Europe. To top this off, Wii Party U will also be coming during that month. Neither of these have solid dates yet, unfortunately.
In November, both America and Europe can expect Retro’s polarising project, Donkey Kong Country Returns: Tropical Freeze. Also in November, America can expect Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games 2014.
December sees Super Mario 3D World and Wii Fit U for both America and Europe.
Europe will get Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games 2014 at some point in 2013, but a proper date hasn’t been confirmed yet.
For next year, we are unsure but can confirm Super Smash Bros. and Bayonetta 2 will be coming to Wii U in 2014.
Interestingly enough, we have a release window for Mario Kart 8 – which should translate to March / April / May 2014 for us Australians.
So there you have it, we’ve got at least one game coming each month for Wii U, and that’s not even counting the third party games. Interesting and probably worth noting is that “Yarn Yoshi” and “X”, the RPG from Monolithsoft is nowhere to be found on this chart – leading us to believe they’re further away in the year than we might think.
How do you feel about these confirmations? Let us know in the comments.
