Last month Nintendo confirmed during press previews that Super Mario Maker 2 wouldn’t let you play online in courses with friends. The reasoning was that friends could team up to manipulate leaderboards.

We’re happy to report that Nintendo has changed their mind and will now allow you to play with friends. The news was announced during a Nintendo Treehouse presentation on the first day of E3.

The functionality won’t be there at launch but will be delivered in an update at a later date.

Clearly, Nintendo didn’t think it would be an issue until a firestorm got unleashed toward them. Good move.
