But good news for everyone in other states

And that good news is that you don’t have to be jealous of Melbourne anymore. Nintendo has announced that the launch party that was planned for The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D at the Nintendo Experience in Melbourne, has been cancelled. The event, scheduled for the night before the launch on June 30, was called off due to "unforeseen circumstances". It was going to be a good party too, with music, prizes, food AND drinks. Nintendo has apologised for any inconvenience caused.

Here’s a picture of a girl in a Link costume for a previous Nintendo Experience event. Now picture the girl’s sadness at this news

In the past few days we’ve been covering a controversy about certain retailers breaking the street date of the game and selling it early. This likely played a role in the event’s demise. See, this is why we (correction: Melbourne) can’t have nice things. One question remains, what will happen to the t-shirt and game signed by Zelda producer Eiji Aonuma that were being offered as prizes? Will they be auctioned off to the highest bidder? Or worse, chucked out? Dun-dun-duuuuuuuuuun!
