Nintendo still remains the only company to not have voice chat on their world renowned gaming system, the Wii. Earlier this year the DS received the official Voice Chat treatment with Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, hinting at possibilities that Voice Chat could one day be seen on the Wii. However despite all the speculation and wishes Nintendo have remained tight lipped on the matter.

–>More Inside During the Conference Call that included comments on the woes on Wii shortages Reggie was also inquired to the possibility of voice chat.

Reggie said that the system has the potential to include some kind of Voice Chat function and what it specifically comes down to is Nintendo being able to find the correct technology and peripheral to appease gamers needs and fulfill their wishes.

As it has been proven in the past, the DS has become Nintendos testing ground for new ideas so with any luck the Voice Chat featured in countless games on the handheld was just the beginning of something console owners have wanted for years. Despite these comforting words from Reggie it is unlikely that Smash Brother Brawl will feature any voice chat. The best we can hope for is Mario Kart Wii or the still mysterious Animal Crossing Wii.
