Nintendo Badge Arcade comes to 3DS in the west on November 13th
Nintendo Europe has announced that the Nintendo Badge Arcade is finally coming to our side of the world on November 13th. Badge Arcade allows you to take your 3DS Home Menu customisation to the next level, for the right price.
The Badge Arcade lets you place badges on the Home Menu beside software. You can make neat scenes on your home menu by collecting badges through crane games and other arcade games. Mario Kart, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and tons of other franchises are here to glitz up your home menu. Some of the icons you can even replace your standard system icons with and theme it up completely.
There is a cost here though, to get the badges you have to play the arcade skill games – they’re starting in Europe at £0.90 ($2 AUD) for five plays. You could end up with nothing! To counter this Nintendo will allow you 5 practise grabs per day to maximise your winnings. There are chances to get free badges on different days and events as well.
These micro transactions are completely optional and you can stick to your standard menu and ignore it if you wish. Franky we’re wondering how Nintendo got this approved outside of Japan, it is essentially gambling.
We’ll find out if we’re getting it here in Australia.
This has just gone live in the US. Earlier than anticipated.
Wow, setting up the kids for the pokies, nice work Nintendo. At least have a default ‘thanks for trying’ badge if they are unsuccessful after 5 goes or something
Downloaded it last night. I’m hoping I won’t be too tempted to spend real money on it, but it looks pretty slick!
