Despite the launch of the Wii U, revenue is down.
Nintendo Australia, like the rest of the Nintendo worldwide hasn’t had a good year, now we know by how much.
According to a report on Delimiter, Nintendo Australia made $127.37 million in revenue here in Australia for the last 12 months to the 31st of March this year. That’s down 36.3% compared to the year before. To make matters worse Nintendo has made a net loss of $15.1 million over the same time period.
These figures are far from the great times of when the Wii was at its peak, in the year ending March 31st 2011 Nintendo Australia put away $339.7 million in revenue.
Nintendo Australia have also cut its marketing budget down by $10 million dollars to $18.4 million for year to March 31st. That’s in a year with a new console launch as well. With the lack of games on the Wii U after launch it probably wasn’t worth advertising the Wii U as much, the Nintendo 3DS however has continued to receive steady promotion.
The report also says there are now at least 80 people working for the company. This figure is down from previous years but not by much considering the size of the company.
Not good figures here for Nintendo Australia, however there’s not much they can do with the Wii U the way it is.
Predictions time once again.
More than 450 games added this final week.
What a year.
