Big Nationwide Competition Kicks Off + Tickets to PAXAus up for Grabs!

Nintendo Australia has just announced it will be hosting the Pokemon Video Game National Championships Tournament at PAX Australia next month!

The tournament contestants will be battling it out in Pokemon Black 2 and White 2 for a chance to fly to Vancouver, Canada to compete in the 2013 Pokemon Video Game World Championships!

The World Championships are to be held on 9th -11th August, 2013 and there will be three age divisions included. They are;

  • Junior Division: Born in 2002 or later
  • Senior Division: Born in 1998, 1999, 2000, or 2001
  • Masters Division: Born in 1997 or earlier

If you place in the top two of your age division you will win flights, accommodation and an invitation to the Pokémon Video Game World Championships, hosted by The Pokémon Company International. The following rules will apply for the tournament.

With PAX Australia sold out you might be worried about how to get into this Pokemon frenzy? Fear not as Nintendo is holding events around the country with tournaments for your chance to get into the National Championships but also PAX Australia. There will also be separate tickets given away at the events for PAX Australia entry, even if you don’t enter the tournament.

The qualifying events start this weekend in Perth at Supanova and all through July at the following locations;

  • Perth (Supanova Pop Culture Expo) Sunday 30th June
  • Melbourne (Deakin Edge – Federation Square)  Saturday 6th July
  • Brisbane (Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre) Sunday 7th July
  • Adelaide (AVCon Anime and Video Game Convention) Saturday 13th July
  • Sydney (Luna Park) Sunday 14th July

Nintendo says that further information will be forthcoming regarding Pokémon Video Game Australian National Championships, Pokémon Meet-ups and just how you can get those extra PAX Australia tickets. Remember it sold out!
