Nintendo Australia confirms more games for release
Its a sad day when we have to get games confirmed for release first, rather than release dates but Wii Fit Plus and New Super Mario Bros Wii are on the way
It’s been an up and down week for Nintendo fans here in Australia, we’ve learnt that Punch-Out!! will be getting a limited release, and that Excitebots won’t be released at all. However fret not as the expansion pack/follow up/sequel to Wii Fit, Wii Fit Plus will be getting a release this year as will New Super Mario Bros Wii.
Speaking to Kotaku Australia, Rose Lappin head honcho over at Nintendo has said that “We’ve got Wii Fit Plus coming, which will hopefully be a very good release for us. Wii Fit has been amazing. It’s remained at the top of the charts most of this year and it’s over a year old now. Wii Fit Plus is offering consumers more, we’ve listened to them about what they wanted. People can now customize their own workout as well as having extra games. It’s not just a fitness regime, it’s also fun and balanced.”
Alright so yeah Wii Fit Plus will sell well but what about Mario? “Then there’s New Super Mario Bros, which is multiplayer and I think everyone was very excited by that across the board. I see on your website there’s a lot about it as well. I think the ‘fanboys’ as well as the expanded market consumer are very excited about that.”
Fanboys? I like to think of myself as an enthusiast but whatever. So no hints what so ever about when they’ll arrive? “No specific release dates, but certainly in the order of Wii Sports Resort first, then we’re hoping Wii Fit Plus will come in around October – potentially late October – and then Mario in around late November, early December.”
So Wii Fit Plus and Mario are a lock and seem to coming in a reasonable time frame, just gotta work on the rest of the catalogue now.
