Thousands of comics for one tiny price
We all knew this day was coming — after the launch of NicoNico and Hulu, Nintendo is starting to publish more non-gaming apps on the Switch.
Announced at Gamescom today was InkyPen, a new app for the Nintendo Switch that will allow users to read digital comics on the go. The service will be subscription-based, and for the price of $7.99USD or €7.99EUR a month, subscribers will get access to a wide range of comics from Europe and the US, as well as some manga titles.
Included in the launch trailer were some IDW titles, like Sonic the Hedgehog and Transformers, and other works from Titan Comics, such as Dark Souls: The Breath of Andolus. The full catalogue reportedly has thousands of of titles to choose from.
Update: InkyPen has been confirmed for Australia, as well as the following regions at launch: USA, Canada, Europe, Mexico, Russia, and Africa. Pricing has yet to be confirmed outside of the US and Europe.
It’s currently unknown if the service is expected to launch in Australia, and if so, what the cost will be, but we’ll be sure to keep you updated. InkyPen is currently scheduled to launch on the Switch in November 2018.
