This morning IGN reported that Nintendo of America annouced a groundbreaking partnership with Wi-Fi provider Wayport to make available free Internet access to DS owners at McDonald’s restaurants accross the United States.

Nintendo and Wayport will offer free Wi-Fi hotspots at McDonald’s “”resturants””, enabling DS owners to use the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection, the service will launch on the 14th of November the day Mario Kart hits US Stores. Nintendo will release more detailed information about participating McDonald’s locations at www.NintendoWiFi.com.

No details on whether this will make its way to Australia, however with Telstra supplying the Wifi at McDonald’s this aggreement wont apply, however Nintendo and Telstra could be planning something. Nintendo Australia had no plans at time of writing to do this but may change as Mario Kart’s release date draws closer.
