While it was originally dated (and subsequently pushed back) multiple times for last year and then Q1 this year, the sequel to the cult Nintendo 64 game is finally arriving in the west in the first half of 2010. The game has now been confirmed for June 7 for the US, although we don’t have any PAL dates yet.
Originally only available in Japan, the N64 original Sin and Punishment: Successor of the Earth proved to be quite popular when it was released as an import for the Virtual Console. When Nintendo announced the sequel in late 2008, they mentioned the success of the downloadable re-release as a key factor in the decision to make Treasure make a sequel.
The sequel has you play the son of Saki and Airan from the first game, Isa Jo, who is on a mission to destroy an amnesiac girl named Kachi on another version of Earth. It isn’t too long, however, before both start working together to default a "common menace." This means you control both characters on your own, or one each with a friend.
The new game for Wii supports nearly all control methods available, including the Wii Remote/Nunchuk pointing controls, Classic Controller (along with the Pro version), and finally the Gamecube pad. WFC is also in the game for online leaderboard support.
