As well as getting a full reveal, the media will have a hands-on opportunity with the device

Seems the Nintendo 3DS is further along in development than first thought, with a Nintendo spokesman today confirming that it will be playable at the E3 this year. "We wanted to give the gaming industry a head’s up about what to expect from Nintendo at E3. We’ll invite people to play with the new device then," says Ken Toyoda, chief spokesman at Nintendo.

While Nintendo says it’ll be out before the end of their financial year – March 2011 – could this news mean that the system is due out at some time this year?

The original DS was shown off at E3 2004 in prototype form before the real ’DS Phat’ look was revealed at a later date. The same could happen here.
