400,000 units sold on the first day, thats everything Nintendo shipped

The Nintendo 3DS went on sale in Japan this past Saturday, and it sold out on the very same day. Nintendo only shipped 400,000 units to Japan and every single one of them (well, it’d be close) was sold on that day. However Nintendo, being the masters of stock manipulation they are, refreshed stock of the system late on Sunday, sales figures since then haven’t been released but demand was reportably still high.

The Japanese public have shown a lot of enthusiasm for the console which launched with eight games. The Aqua Blue colour has proven to be the most popular. Nintendo delayed the release of the Nintendo 3DS late last year as they didn’t believe they had enough consoles to satisfy consumers worldwide. Will it now, months later have enough to keep up with demand?

Nintendo has another month to catch up with supplies for the rest of the world.
