Not keen on the look of the 3DS? Thinking of waiting for the next and more improved model that will no doubt come down the track? Well, you might be waiting a while. Nintendo President Satoru Iwata has said in the latest ’Iwata Asks’, that the Nintendo 3DS is as small as it can be for now. "The first thing (Nobuo) Nagai-san, who’s in charge at the Uji plant, said to me when he looked over the designs for Nintendo 3DS before mass production began was ’This time it’s fully packed right from the start.’"
The man who created the Gameboy Advance SP (a much, much smaller version of the Gameboy Advance) then responded by saying "Oh, really? But he was right. That’s why we don’t have any short-term plans for creating a more compact version of Nintendo 3DS like we did with Nintendo DS Lite."
Iwata then said "Yeah. When making Nintendo 3DS, we used all our tricks for Nintendo DS Lite – and more – for cutting down on size right from the start."
Nintendo took just under two years to bring the Nintendo DS Lite to the market, that might be because the original Nintendo DS was ugly as, but there is a lot less technology in a DS than a 3DS. However, as time passes, things do get cheaper and smaller.
