Nintendo 3DS firwmare adds theme shuffle, amiibo menu in New 3DS and more
There’s a new 3DS software update on the loose and unlike usual instead of just adding some stability there’s some actual new features included.
Don’t worry though, there is improvements to the system stability as well, just in case you were worried.
Firstly the New Nintendo 3DS gains two features. You can now setup and edit your amiibo figures from the home menu and if you’re in Japan you can use SUICA cards cards to add funds to your New Nintendo 3DS. New features to the regular 3DS (as well as the new one) include a theme shuffle feature. This is will change your systems theme each time you turn your system off or open and close the lid.
You can now also take a combined screenshot of both screens of the console and also you can now download software updates from the home menu as well. The update also targets one of the exploits that allows the 3DS home-brew hack through Cubic Ninja to work. Two other exploits remain and homebrew is unaffected at this stage.

So now that we have Amiibo support enabled, when is the Smash patch?
This is a cool update and as it has hit Japan also there must be something on the cards soon. Surely? I feel a last minute Nintendo Direct on the horizon to announce the update and show off the tech in action on the 3DS. They can really capitalise (especially in Japan) with Amiibo being enabled on 3DS just before the festive season. Surely?
