Nintendo is planning a very different approach to anti-piracy with the Nintendo 3DS. During an investors meeting on Wednesday, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata revealed that the Nintendo 3DS will be automatically updated with new firmware over Wi-Fi to thwart pirates. "As part of the functionality of SpotPass, were looking into having automatic system updates via the internet" said Iwata.
Nintendo wont just be updating the firmware to block pirates, Iwata also said they would be adding new features and functionality via these automatic firmware updates. In fact, he said that adding new features would be more important than blocking pirates. Iwata said that the auto updating firmware would be better because they found no one updates manually unless they have to.
So readers, what do you think about this automatically updating firmware?
Or in the office, we won't judge
Definitively done with the Wii U now.
