Next Smash Bros to have change of direction, 3DS and Wii U link key
Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS is still a while away, but with Kid Icarus Uprising complete and in the hands on gamers it’s time to start on the next Super Smash Bros.
Masahiro Sakurai has spoken in a new interview with IGN. He was asked what he can do next with series. It’s going to be linked via the Wii U and 3DS, but what does that mean exactly?
As you noted, there is a certain dead end we come to if we just expand the volume of the game. I intend to change direction a little as we go. The key to that’s going to be its dual support for 3DS/Wii U. I’m really just getting started on this so it’s going to take time, but I’ll come up with something that uses that link as the game’s central axis, so I hope you’re looking forward to it.
Sakurai isn’t interested in just jamming the game with more stages and characters, no he wants to actually do something new with the franchise and the link between the systems is not just going to be a feature it’s going to be the games main point.
This Super Smash Bros likely won’t be at E3 2012, it shouldn’t have even been announced last year. But whenever we do see the game, it will be glorious.

My prediction: It’ll have a mode seperate to the standard Smash where you play with a certain character and upgrade his stats RPG style on the 3DS then take him online on the Wii U and fight him against other peopel who’ve also upgraded their characters.
CANNOT WAIT 😀
Probably a 2 year wait don’t you think?
