Next Up Hero announced for Switch
Digital Continue might not be a studio that you are aware of, but their history comes from games like Scribblenauts and Drawn to Life, but they have teamed up with Aspyr Media to bring their first game to Nintendo Switch. The game in question is called, Next Up Hero and the game is an arcade action-adventure driven by Community Continue, in which players take turns fighting — and dying — in community game sessions, working to conquer impossibly hard monsters and bosses together, one hero at a time.
Players will get to choose from one of nine heroes, each with an assortment of weapons and abilities that should suit whatever playstyle you have. Players will get to choose from swords and rockets launchers to bongos and boomerangs. When you die though and you will die, you will leave behind an echo of your hero on the battlefield and which ever player is next up, will get the chance to resurrect your hero and have them join their battle as an AI player.
You will take turn continuing your friends games, fighting and dying until you have enough echoes on your side, which can then combine to a giant, powerful companion and use them to destroy the jerk monsters.
Next Up Hero is the first original game from developer Digital Continue, founded by industry veteran Joe Tringali, the co-founder of 5TH Cell, creators of Scribblenauts, Lock’s Quest and Drawn to Life. No release date has been announced yet, but the game will hit early access on Steam soon and come to consoles later this year.
