Never mind the Nintendo DSi, reports out say that an NVidia Tegra chip will be powering the next DS and its out next year?

Time to put on your Rumour hat as today’s wild rumour is that the next generation DS is to be powered by the similar chip to that which currently powers the Zune HD. NVidia’s Tegra ‘system-on-a-chip’, these chips are not only energy efficient but also would allow Nintendo to keep backwards compatibility with the current DS and DSi library.  The graphics and extra processing power would allow DS games to expand, be more complex and look a hell of a lot better than they do now.

The report suggests that Nintendo is going to take the lid off this console late in 2010. The original DS was released all the way back in 2004 in Japan and the technology was old then. Could 2010, 6 years later bring about a next generation DS?
