New Wii U games and services to be announced in Nintendo Direct Today
Nintendo Europe and Japan announced a new Nintendo Direct installment tomorrow night Australian time (early Thursday morning for the east). Nintendo says they’ll be showing off first party games for the Wii U as well as new ‘services’. Hopefully this may include the Wii U Virtual Console.
The news comes at a time where the Wii U is getting knocked around a bit out there, some new games and the Virtual Console would go over great.
So when should you be tuning into Nintendo’s stream of the event and our coverage? The broadcast is set to start at 2pm GMT/London time for the European one and 11pm Tokyo Time for the Japanese one. Thankfully that’s exactly the same time, so expect similar content.
So when’s that for Australians? Times are as follows.
- Perth – 10:00pm January 23rd
- Adelaide – 12:30am January 24th
- Brisbane – Midnight 23rd/24th
- Sydney and Melbourne – 1:00am January 24th

There better be some games coming!
I’m slightly excited about this. Only because the games I can’t wait for (3D Mario, Zelda, Metroid) I expect will be unveiled closer to E3. Some internet gossip suggest a Yoshi’s Island game. Whatever the outcome, 1st party titles appear to be the focus from what I’ve read elsewhere, which won’t disappoint. I hope the ‘service’ part of the show is regarding NGC Virtual Console. Under 14hrs till we know.
Yeah im kinda hoping/expecting VC games to get announced and some form of Yoshi game from all the leaked info.. I seriously don’t know outside of that right now what to expect.
I doubt there would be many 1st party announcements (pray im wrong!) but im expecting one more huge game announce, either Zelda or Mario would be the bet.
FINALLY
Yoshi’s Island U will be shown I’m guessing. Maybe virtual console being ported to the gamepad? Iwata seemed very apologetic that Wii VC didn’t make it across, so it seems like they might try to rectify that.
But realistically most of the nintendo direct will just be showing off games we already know about. I expect lots of Pikmin 3, Lego Undercover etc.
Hmmm. I think you might have those times wrong. The Ninty Au website says 24:00 Sydney/Melbourne time for Nintendo Direct.
24:00 AES[tandard]T will be 1AM Sydney/Melbourne. Remember, we’re in AED[aylight Savings]T at the moment. I can’t wait – hopefully Virtual Console updates!!!
