Despite Nintendo Australia telling us in August that they had ’no plans’ to bring the new Wii configuration to Australia, it is actually doing so later this month. The new Wii doesn’t actually contain anything new, instead it actually has things missing from it like the GameCube controller ports and memory card slots. We suspect anyone who wants a Wii to play GameCube games though, already has one. This new Wii also sits horizontal and doesn’t include a stand to be stood vertically, the Wii logo has even been moved. Big changes!
The new Wii will come with Mario Kart Wii, a Wii Wheel, Nunchuk and Wii Remote Plus for $199 and of course be available in black and white. The recently revealed blue Wii for Europe probably isn’t on the way for Australia though, but never say never. Along with the new Wii configuration announcement, Nintendo has also said Go Vacation on Wii will be available November and Kirby’s Adventure Wii in December. No firm dates on those yet.
Just remember kids, when Nintendo or any video game company says they have ’no plans’ for something, never take it as gospel.
