Nintendo of America has today announced that the Wii Shop Channel which is the “”store front”” for the Wii will have new Virtual console games released for it every week. On launch there will be about 12 titles and starting the Monday after launch there will be more games, leading to about 30 by years end. It is not known if Nintendo Australia will follow this approach either but there is no reason why they shouldnt.

Also on Dec. 20, Nintendo will roll out the Forecast Channel. Users will be able to access free local weather information, which is continually updated. Users can access worldwide weather information by browsing a 3-D globe.

Then by Jan. 27, the Wii Menu News Channel will make headlines with the latest news from around the world provided by the Associated Press. Nintendo states in its press release that a high-speed Internet connection is needed for all of the above features.
