While Splatoon is coming out in May, Nintendo held a special press event for the game, where more details on the game surfaced.
Everyone’s fear has been confirmed, with voice chat definitely not featuring in the multiplayer portion of the game. However, a new gametype called Splat Zones, much like King of the Hill mode in typical shooters, was available to play. Instead of trying to cover the entire map in your team’s colour ink, you’re trying to hold certain spots of the map, but still using the ink to do so. Different outfits also seem to affect things like movement speed, or faster reloading.
The single player campaign also made more of a presence, with the levels being linear, but relying on platforming and puzzles, on top of the already well established ink and squid movement mechanics.
No release date for Splatoon has been announced just yet, but we’re still on track to get the game this May.
