New Pokémon Sword and Shield trailer shows off Galarian forms, Team Yell
Well then, that’s new.
A new Pokémon Sword and Shield trailer was released today, and it’s pretty interesting. Regional forms are back, returning from Sun and Moon, with new Galarian variants. So far, only two have been revealed: Weezing, and the Zigzagoon family. What’s even more interesting is that Linoone — Zigzagoon’s evolved form — is getting a new evolution, in the first non-Eevee cross-generational evolution since generation 4.
Obstagoon is a Dark/Normal type Pokémon, and by the looks of it, can only evolve from Galarian Linoone — Hoenn Linoones need not apply.
The trailer also revealed the new baddies of the games: Team Yell. These, uh, eccentric folks are the cheer squad for one of your rivals, Marnie. They’re pretty crazy-looking, and it sounds like they’re some pretty hardcore troublemakers.
There’s so much more in the trailer — including an adorable new form-changing Pokémon called Morpeko — which you can watch below.
Weezing looks like a bong
Galarian Weezing is beautiful. I love the top hat / cooling tower motif. Very clever indeed.
Slightly off-topic, but EB are offering steelbook cases for the standard editions of Sword and Shield, and damn it, it looks like I’m going to have to buy what is basically the same game four times to get all three steelbooks. -.-
Galarian Weezing might be my favourite regional variation ever. Better than Alolan Exeguttor.
