Captain Olimar and his Pikmin friends will be making their portable debut in the form of a side-scrolling 3DS game coming in 2017.
A departure from its 3D predecessors, the new Pikmin is labelled an “action” game with a faster pace than its console brethren.
The Nintendo Direct footage showed the dual screens in action – the touch screen used for throwing Pikmin at enemies and environmental puzzles, and the top screen showing a higher vantage point for the athletic yellow Pikmin to be thrown towards.
The new Pikmin game does not have an official title, or a firm release date yet. It will be the fourth game in the series following Pikmin 3 on the Wii U.
While it wasn’t mentioned in the Direct, New Play Control Pikmin is now available to download on the Wii U Virtual Console. It’s the Wii port of the GameCube original and is $26.00. Skyward Sword is also out today and if you buy either of them you’ll get 50% off the other.
Gotta go fast.
It is a Holiday Gaming Extravaganza
