New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL launch in Australia alongside Pokemon, lines ensue
It’s a been fortnight for Nintendo and the first week has now been complete with the New Nintendo 3DS and the Pokemon Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire now out in stores across the country.
Lines were huge everywhere but no bigger than at The Nintendo Experience at EB Games Swanston St. The official home for all big Nintendo releases. There were over 1000 people in attendance there Nintendo tells us and who are we to doubt that – just look at the pictures. Even WA got in on the act Friday morning with breakfast launches, a couple of people even camped overnight watching Pokemon DVDs to keep them company.
There were big launches all around the country at midnight on the east coast and it seems most of it went off without a hitch. Apart from some stores not getting enough chargers in!
So then, how was your midnight launch experience or did you just wander into a store at 8am with one other guy and just pick it up like we did? Such excitement!
Oh to be young again! Looks like everyone had an excellent time there, and it’s good to solid Nintendo support, especially given the ever-dwindling support from retailers and casual gamers alike.
I was originally planning on getting a new 3DSXL at launch, but changed my mind when I saw the majora’s mask trailer—I’m hoping for a special edition mm console, similar to the albw special edition XL which I missed out on because I was too slow to make up my mind.
On that note, Nintendo, when are you going to drop the price of the Wii U?? You really need to hurry before they completely disappear from all retail stores!!
