In the wake of E3 in July it would appear that some embargos have begun to lift on printed media. The first of these includes a much thought about but pushed to the side title Metroid Prime 3: Corruption. Slated for an August release in America Play magazine has got its hands on the latest build and has revealed some opening details about the game.

Warning, spoilers ahoy! Firstly, I’d like to thank GoNintendo and there reader NDAninja for this information. Now onto the good stuff.

– The first level takes place aboard a spaceship, as we have previously seen. Action packed

– Play feels that the motion controls feel and work allot better than dual joystick. They also make a comment about Corruption being more revolutionary than Halo, though I’m not to sure what they meant by this comment. The motion controls are super sensitive in ‘advanced’ mode.

– Beam stacking, hopefully will add to the complexity of some puzzles.

– To switch between visors it’s no longer a tap of the D-pad. Instead you hold down the minus button and flick the Wiimote in a given direction.

– As seen in earlier demos, boss fight with Ridley at the end of the Spaceship level. Hopefully this will not be the last of him.

– Sadly for many, there is still back tracking however it is suppose to make more sense than previous titles.

– Extra development time was to give the game more polish. Nintendo wanted Twilight Princess levels of polish. Game is focused on Metroid fans and hardcore gamers, but still accessible to newcomers due to controls. (I thought Zelda was delayed for waggle controls and a Wii release?)

– Second level is a floating city, once again as we have seen in the demo and trailers.

– Larger environments, bloom lighting, better textures than Prime 2

Sounding good so far. Look forward to more at this years E3. However let’s hope Retro Studios don’t tell us everything about the game, like they did to Prime 2 just weeks before it’s release.
