New details on what Super Mario 3DS will be all about
Miyamoto gives hints as to what to expect from the next Mario game
We’ve learnt more about Super Mario 3DS (tentative title) in the last two days than at its reveal during GDC some months ago. According to a new interview with Miyamoto by Edge, the game will be a cross between Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64. Not sure what that means? Miyamoto says "it won’t convey the message if I talk to you today, but if you play it at E3, that will give you more understanding of what I’m talking about." Yes, Super Mario 3DS will be at E3, and hopefully it’ll be playable.
Other new information comes in the form of acknowledgement that the raccoon tail on the logo is indeed a sign that the Tanooki suit is making a comeback. When questioned about it, Miyamoto said that "the tail you mentioned on the logo – it’s what you think it is. You probably know what’s going to happen using that character."
And back to an earlier quote, Miyamoto has said the game will be "completely original, and coming this year." Looks like it’ll be a busy holiday season for the 3DS.
