Nintendo has pushed a new firmware update for the Nintendo 3DS live. It adds the ability to backup save game data for downloadable versions of Nintendo 3DS games and most Virtual Console games.

It also does the old ‘improved system stability and usability’ that we all know and love.

There are also new New Super Mario Bros U, Skyward Sword, Xenoblade and an all-girl Heroines StreetPass puzzles. Which one you get seems to be random.

That’s not even the best past though, the Mii Plaza has received a total upgrade and makeover. The original two StreetPass games are still there but now there’s a Shop and Exchange Booth. In the shop you are able to purchase (with real money) four new StreetPass games. They are called StreetPass Squad, StreetPass Garden, StreetPass Battle and StreetPass Mansion.

StreetPass Squad is similar to StreetPass Quest but take places in space as you battle the Gold Bone Gang. In StreetPass Garden you move into a house in Leafington and try to become a Master Gardener. Mr Mendel is your tutor for this one as he helps you grow flowers and decorate your garden.

StreetPass Battle is a game of luck, You rule over a remote country in a land stricken by war. Along with Wentworth, your butler you build an army via StreetPass and battle other generals. Your goal: Take over the world. More details on StreetPass Mansion and the prices in AUD for the games are still forthcoming, the Mii Plaza currently crashes when you attempt to buy them.

You are able to purchase all of the StreetPass games at once, however if you only buy one then decide on the others you won’t get the discount.

The exchange booth allows you to swap Plaza Tickets for new Mii accessories, including hats and other yet unannounced items. The Plaza Tickets only work in the new StreetPass games, not the originals.

If you’re big into StreetPass these cheap downloadable titles may be for you.

UPDATE 20/6 : It appears an update has been pushed out, fixing the crashes many EU and AU 3DS consoles were having. You can now access the shop to get the 4 new games, which are $6.50 AUD each, or $19.50 AUD for the combo pack. To access the combo pack, just go through to the buy screen of your first game.
